This Privacy Policy explains what information vietanh.dev ("I", "me", or "my") processes when you use this personal website.

I run first-party, cookieless page-view analytics. It does not use persistent visitor identifiers, fingerprinting, advertising trackers, or cross-session visitor tracking.

If you choose to provide personal information through the contact form, comments, an account, a course, or Ask Viet, I use it only to provide and secure those features, respond to you, moderate content, or maintain the service. I do not sell personal data.

The site may use necessary cookies or comparable browser storage for security, authentication, and features you request. Page-view analytics does not use cookies or browser storage. The site does not use advertising cookies.

Data Collection

Hosting and security infrastructure may automatically process standard request information such as:

  • Browser type and version
  • Operating system
  • Requested URL and referring page
  • IP address (in server logs only)

For page-view analytics, the site stores the requested path, content type, time, external referrer domain, bot classification, and coarse browser, operating-system, and device categories. It does not store the raw IP address, raw user-agent, visitor ID, URL query string, or full referring URL in analytics records. These records measure aggregate traffic and content performance, not unique or returning visitors.

Hosting and security providers may separately process raw request information to operate and protect the service. I do not use that information to build cross-session visitor profiles.

Personal Information

You may provide personal information when:

  • Submitting the contact form
  • Leaving comments
  • Creating an account or signing in
  • Enrolling in a course or recording lesson progress
  • Using Ask Viet

This information is used solely to:

  • Respond to your messages
  • Display your comments (if you choose to make them public)
  • Operate your account, enrolment, and lesson progress
  • Provide and secure the Ask Viet service

Authentication uses necessary session storage or cookies. Account, comment, enrolment, and lesson-progress records are kept while needed to provide those features or meet security and legal obligations. You can request access, correction, or deletion through the contact page. Some records may need to be retained where required by law or necessary to protect the service.

Ask Viet AI assistant

Ask Viet is an AI system. Questions are processed using an Upstash Vector index for retrieval and sent through Vercel AI Gateway to the configured language model together with recent conversation context and relevant excerpts from public site content.

Completed chat turns are stored for security, quality review, abuse prevention, and analysis. Stored records can include:

  • The question and generated answer
  • Conversation and turn identifiers
  • Model, token usage, completion status, and latency
  • Retrieved-source titles, URLs, types, and relevance scores
  • Automated quality or security tags
  • A salted, truncated hash derived from the client IP address
  • A truncated user-agent and derived browser, operating-system, and device categories

Raw IP addresses are not stored in chat records, although hosting infrastructure may retain them in server logs. Chat records currently have no automatic deletion schedule. You can request access to or deletion of an identifiable chat record through the contact page. Please include the approximate date, time, and question so the record can be located.

Do not enter secrets, confidential information, sensitive personal data, or information about another person. See the AI Transparency page for the assistant's purpose, operation, and limitations.

Third-Party Services

The site relies on service providers for:

  • Hosting and infrastructure
  • Database and authentication infrastructure
  • AI inference, retrieval, and hosting infrastructure

These providers process data only as needed to supply their services and may maintain their own security logs. Ask Viet's current inference and retrieval path is described on the AI Transparency page.

Data Security

I take reasonable measures to protect any information collected through my site. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

I may update this policy when the site's features or data practices change. The current revision date appears below.
